A Super Bowl cook ahead recipe
You will need:
A 5 to 6 pound Boston Butt pork roast or, a large brisket
Instant onion soup mix
1 cup of water
favorite barbecue sauce
aluminum foil
a large pan
tear off enough foil to tightly incase the roast. Line the pan with the foil, put the roast on top. Sprinkle one package of onion soup mix on top of the roast. Pour the cup of water in and tightly seal the foil.
Bake in a 300° oven for six hours. Do not open the foil until the roast is done. No peeking. Open only the top of the foil so as to reserve the liquid. Once the roast is cool drain the liquid into a separate pan. Chill the meat as it is easier to slice thin or pull apart. Once sliced you can reheat using your favorite barbecue sauce or in the liquid that was reserved.
Makes great sandwiches. Mine is cooking right now.
