Ist Friday Art Walk

May 4 2012, 12:10 am

Art is in the eye of the beholder.

Edvard Munch’s, Scream, sold a few days ago for 119 million. If you’ve never glimpsed this masterpiece (?) here’s a link where you can see it. http://tinyurl.com/csjgeuf.  I can tell you right now it’s not for me at any price. Shrug. But I’m thinking Edvard probably wouldn’t like what passes for art in my house.

I find art in many forms.  I love shells and am a collector. Collector not hoarder. I can move about freely in my house. Well, except for my bedroom right now because I’m cleaning out closets. Where was I?

Shells. I have them in every room of my house. They are nature’s fantasy art displayed for all to see on beaches around the world.

Here are some of my favorites. Cowrie shells.

This is the largest Conch I have.

Shells are on every surface in the house and I even have them in jars where I don’t have dust them and they stay nice white.

Most of my collection is the result of hours spent walking the galleries, eh, beaches of the world. I have to admit some finds were made in the Shell Shop.

  1. I love the beach and haven’t been there in decades. I always came home with sand bucket filled with shells. I love your idea to keep the white ones white.

  2. Liz Talley says:

I have several vases of shells in my bathroom. Every time we go to the beach we add to the collection. God makes the prettiest art, doesn’t He? BTW, Scream is not my cup of tea either. Where do you hang that? It would probaby go next to the dancing cows in my laundry room. LOL.

  3. I love your shells, Rita! That conch is beautiful. And I love that, like snowflakes, no two are ever the same. Thanks for sharing your pics!

  4. I love shells! Well, I love the beach, and any reminder of it. My husband and I used to keep jars of sand from each beach that was special to us…will have to find those sometime. 😉
